The transition towards Industry 5.0 in the European furniture sector places people, sustainability and resilience at the centre of industrial transformation. In a context shaped by the twin green and digital transition, evolving regulatory requirements and increasing competitive pressure, furniture companies are called to move beyond purely technology-driven digitalisation and embrace more human-centred, responsible and resilient production models.
On 26 March 2026, from 10:00 to 11:45 CET, the FURN5.0 Final Conference – Advancing Industry 5.0 in the European Furniture Sector will take place online, marking the conclusion of the FURN5.0 project and presenting its main results to the wider furniture ecosystem.
From Maturity Assessment to Practical Applications
The conference will open with an introduction to Industry 5.0 in EU manufacturing and an overview of the current maturity level of European furniture companies. This session will provide a snapshot of where the sector stands and outline the key challenges and opportunities ahead.
A central highlight of the event will be the presentation of the FURN5.0 Handbook, a comprehensive guide designed to facilitate the adoption of Industry 5.0 practices in the EU furniture industry. The Handbook includes 15 practical applications that companies can implement to strengthen sustainability, resilience and competitiveness.
To illustrate the concrete potential of these applications, two practical examples will be presented:
- Product traceability in the furniture sector through the Digital Product Passport (DPP)
- AI-driven knowledge management systems
These cases demonstrate how digital tools can enhance transparency, optimise processes and support long-term value creation.
A Tool to Measure and Improve Industry 5.0 Readiness
Participants will also be introduced to the FURN5.0 Self-Assessment Tool, developed to help furniture companies evaluate their current Industry 5.0 maturity level and identify targeted areas for improvement.
Emerging skills needs in the wood and furniture sector
The conference will conclude with a session dedicated to the skills needed for Industry 5.0 in the European wood and furniture sector, addressing emerging competences required to support the transition, followed by an interactive Q&A session.

This strategic event is aimed at professionals, executives, technical experts, innovation managers, and stakeholders from the furniture ecosystem who wish to understand, assess, and actively drive the effective implementation of Industry 5.0 within their organisations.
